Maritime Archaeologist Alison James was interviewed on The One Show, which gets an average of five million viewers a day, following a piece filmed in the Isles of Scilly about the possible wreck of Sir Walter Raleigh’s lost ship ‘The Flying Joan’. Two local divers and Wessex Archaeology have extracted wood samples from the hull of the wreck which will be tree-ring dated by English Heritage. Alison James spoke about some items that have been recovered so far including a cannon ball and working well with the diving community. The One Show has said it would like to do a follow-up story after the dendrochronology has taken place.
