New North Sea Prehistory Research and Management Framework

A new research and management framework produced by institutions and commercial organisations in the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK and published by English Heritage and Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed is now available to download or to view on SCRIBD.

Forthcoming MAG Bulletin – revised copy deadline

The next copy deadline is 26th March, one week earlier than the deadline printed in the Autumn 2009 Bulletin. Please contact Mark Littlewood if you have anything for the next issue.

Croatian conference news

The ‘4th International Conference of Industrial Heritage’ will take place in Rijeka in Croatia from 22-23 April 2010. The theme of the conference is the city of Rijeka and its shipbuilding heritage.

Quaternary sea-levels challenged

The February 12th issue of the journal Science includes a paper by researchers at the University of Iowa challenging existing theories about the rate of ice accumulation and melting during the Quaternary.

Safe cracking

Divers have used a Broco torch to cut open a safe on the 123 year old SS Keilawarra shipwreck in New South Wales, Australia. The apparent theft occurred sometime in the last three years and an investigation by the state is underway.

World War Two veterans saved

Two veterans from the ‘Battle of the Narrow Seas’, High Speed Launch 102 and Motor Gun Boat 81 have been saved from scrapping or being sold abroad and will go on display at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

Forthcoming MAG elections

Apologies to those waiting for details, they should be available later this week.
