PWA Contractor Revealed, Consultation on the future of the ALSF, Guidance for Diving Discoverers.


Contractor for Archaeological Services in Relation to the Protection of Wrecks Act Announced.
Wessex Archaeology has been re-appointed as the Government’s contractor for Archaeological Services in relation to the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973.

The principle aim of the contract is to supply advice to English Heritage, Historic Scotland, Cadw, and the Environment and Heritage Service Northern Ireland to enable them to advise their respective Secretary of State, Scottish, Welsh or Northern Ireland Ministers, as appropriate, about issues of designation and licensing under the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973.

The contract, managed by English Heritage for DCMS, runs from the 1st April 2008 to the 31st March 2011. At present there are 60 sites designated under the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973 in UK territorial seas.

Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund in England: Future of the Fund 2008-2011

Members should be aware that there is a consultation on the future priorities for and delivery of the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (2008-2011). The deadline for responses 28 April 2008. More information is available at Defra’s Website.
