Guidelines for Archaeological Archives

The development of guidelines for archaeological archives has recently been completed, and the IFA has published “Archaeological Archives: a guide to best practice in creation, compilation, transfer and curation” on behalf of the Archaeological Archives Forum.

A digital copy of the guidelines can be downloaded from the IFA’s publications page.

Boyne Boat

The excavation of a medieval vessel in the River Boyne is nearing completion in the Republic of Ireland.

The vessel was discovered during dredging operations and the excavation has been led by the National Monuments Service of the Irish Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
