Call for papers, Current Archaeology Conference

A new conference sponsored by Current Archaeology and the British Museum’s Department of Portable Antiquities and Treasure (Portable Antiquities Scheme) is being held at the British Museum on 9th and 10th February 2008 to demonstrate the best current work being undertaken in British archaeology.

Lecturers will be expected to deliver a 20 minute informative and entertaining exposition of their work! Please put forward your best ideas and speakers, presenting your best work, as this is an opportunity to promote your personal work and/or that of your organisation.

Send your bids to conference@archaeology.co.uk, giving the title of the proposed talk, the speaker, and a summary (not exceeding 100 words) of the proposed presentation. Application deadline 15th October.


PWA contract tender, IFA 2008 Conference call for papers, NAS Annual Conference, Scientific Diving Symposium

PWA contract tenders invited
English Heritage is managing the re-tendering of the contract for archaeological services in relation to the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973. The contract will be rewarded for three years in the first instance and will coincide with the current review of Heritage Protection. A contract notice has been published in the Tenders Electronic Daily database, a supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union.

IFA 2008 Conference call for papers

The IFA 2008 conference has released its call for papers, MAG members should note that the conference will include a MAG run session: “Education and training: what “Maritime Archaeology are we teaching?”. Abstracts should be between 250 and 500 words in length and submitted by the 8th October 2007. Click here for IFA 2008 Session abstracts and submission details.

NAS Annual Conference
The NAS Annual Conference will take place on Saturday the 10th November 2007. The conference will provide an opportunity to discuss research, see the results of members’ archaeological activities and will feature presentations from a range of professional and amateur archaeologists. Scientific Diving Symposium
The preliminary programme of the first symposium on occupational scientific diving in Europe has been released. The Symposium, “Scientific Diving – National and European Perspectives”, will be held from October 15 to October 16, 2007 at the Alfred-Wegener-Institute for Polar and Marine Sciences in Bremerhaven, Germany.
